To say that the train was approached with trepidation could be an understatement. Our previous experience in Portugal was somewhat suboptimal.
However after the interesting Tetris game of fitting our luggage in, it was (another) trip highlight - not least because the kids dropped off quickly ;D
The first piece at night was an interesting look into the back rooms of Hanoi's family's and shops. Whereas awakening the next morning there is few better ways of watching the unique countryside slip by than on a train (clickety clack, clickety clack). Through here it was all to easy to watch MASH, Tour of Duty, etc playing out before you. Reinforced by the occasional graveyards for the fallen in that conflict.
So we've made it to Hue, and met our new guide (bye Sy) for our stay here in Hoi An.
Looks like everyone is more than surviving the "Vietnam Experience" :-) Good to hear all is going well and the troops are enjoying yet another side of "life" on planet earth.
ReplyDeleteStay well and keep on having fun.
